Abstract
This study was designed to verify the mediating effect of self-efficacy on the relationship between parental attachment, peer attachment, and smart phone addiction. Correlation and hierarchical regression analysis were applied to the results of a survey administered to 395 middle school students from the Gyeongnam province. In the correlation analysis performed on parental attachment, self-efficacy, and smart phone addiction, the highest correlation was observed between self-efficacy and smart phone addiction. Analysis also revealed that smart phone addiction exhibited a significant negative correlation with all variables. Self-efficacy showed partial mediation effects on the relationship between parental attachment and smart phone addiction. And self-efficacy showed fully mediation effects on the relationship between peer attachment and smart phone addiction. Finally, suggestions for the follow up studies and limitation of this study were discussed.
